Agios Nikolaos

Agios Nikolaos is 90 Kilometers away from thesaloniki and 15 away from Nikiti, the capital of Sithonia. The ancient city of Singos  was located within Agios Nikolaos' territory. It was probably near the Vourvourou where an ancient wall of large stones is still visible (Mega Teichos). Individual reports even mention remains of an ancient port at the very same location. There are ruins of a Byzantinum watchtower at Pirgos beach.

Close to Agios Nikolaos there is Ormos panagias with tasteful fishing restaurants and every-day cruises to mount Athos and Toroni. The most famous beaches are Trani Ammouda and Lagonisi.

Traditionally, inhabitants of Agios Nikolaos occupied with agriculture and fishery. Agriculture was mostly devoted to olive trees (and olive oil production), wheat, and winery.Since the 1980s, tourism started replacing agriculture and fishery with tourims industry.
